This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
Bullets billets Bruce Bairnsfather Books
A glimpse of the world of ordinary people caught up in the cataclysm of the greatest disaster of the twentieth century - The Great War. It offers a sample of the humor, pathos and agonies of soldiers living in primitive conditions and subject to the terror of constant danger and imminent death. A must read for anyone wishing to understand just a little of the reality of war...with its senseless slaughter and occasional unexpected moments of compassion in a world gone mad.Product details

Bullets billets Bruce Bairnsfather Books Reviews
this is the personal memoir of a soldier from World War I - he was also an illustrator and his cartoons of life as a soldier and in the trenches were very beloved and very relateable at that time. Unfortunately, this particular print of the book has teeny letters - a very thin book and it looks like print was reduced in size maybe to save on cost. There are no illustrations and that's kind of key to the book as while he describes his war experiences he also shows you illustrations and the story in the book tells you how he came up with his ideas for the illustrations and where he was when he worked on them. The cartoons he then submitted to a british newspaper so people back home could see it while he was out in france in battle. Besides the cartoons, the text is worth reading as he comes across as a caring soldier - his job involved positioning the nachine and yet everyday man doing his best and representing the human spirit and character they were fighting for.
my advice - find a different printing of this book or look up online as you can get it as a free ebook or kindle book.
Good book, interesting that it was written by someone who was there, with mud on his boots. If you are a war history buff then read this one.
I had to get this book for a class and I liked it a lot. I'll definitely hang onto it.
Very fun to read. I ordered a "Fragments From France" collection on EBay.
